The Duncan Phyfe Neoclassical style design was created by William Zaiser. His patent drawing (pictured) was filed April 26, 1937 and the patent was received August 17, 1937. This model was also manufactured with an Art Deco design.
The design was produced in limited numbers beginning in 1937 and into the 1940s. The walnut wood case features a two-part winged lid that gives the impression of a butterfly's wings. This is the only model to have four legs. These are mahogany fluted tapers ending in brass casters. The foot pedestal is a lyre form. The keyboard is a 73-note : FF to F4. The Model 235 was marketed as a status symbol, but affordable. The piano is compact, making it a great option for small space living. Original marketing included tossing cut-paper butterfly shapes from the upper floor windows of buildings. Piano measures 48" wide x 46" deep x 36.5 high. Bench measures 26" wide x 12.5" deep x 20 high.
