Rare Steinway Art Case Piano Model 0 1906 rebuilt to Steinway specifications. This rare hand painted example has been in the same family since 1934 when it was bought at an estate in Beverly Hills. The previous owner was Lew Cody a silent Screen actor who was married to Dorothy Dalton. (her second husband was no less than Arthur Hammerstein nephew of Oscar Hammerstein).
Dalton settled Cody's estate when he died suddenly in his sleep. It was fully rebuilt by Rick Smith of Huntington Long Island NY in 1993.
An amazing musical instrument and a perfect fit for most homes at just under 6 ft (5 10 3/4). Known as a parlor grand it was later replaced by the popular M model. This piano was original delivered to a Fifth Avenue Address in New York City over 100 years ago according to Steinway Piano records.
It was paint decorated with an usual "oriental yellow and red theme" with French armorial devices that are still amazing and very well done. There is some loss to the finish on the top and a minor crack to the side which happened over 50 years ago in a move that does not affect the sound. The sound board is intact and this has an amazing tone and the classic Steinway action. It is a dream to play and will bring the next family another 100 years of joy. Available to view by appointment or have your piano technician review.
