Steinway Grand Piano, model M, 5'7 vintage, in pristine condition
Steinway and Sons model M Grand Piano. Serial #272314; Built in 1931 in New York City. This Steinway has its original soundboard and strings. The soundboard is in exceptional condition considering its age; there are no cracks in board or bridge. The instrument has been tuned yearly and kept in a climate controlled space.
The piano was professionally refinished with a Steinway ebony finish in 2012; it looks like brand new. The original action over time had developed a case of verdigris, causing the moving parts of the action to seize, so a new action was installed in early January, 2021 by technician Dave Snyder (Robesonia, PA). This involves an entirely new Renner (Rennerusa. Com) action - including premium blue hammers, original style shanks and flanges, straight heel whippens, back checks, new key bushings and felts.
Along with this, a full regulation and balancing was performed, as well as tonal voicing. Finally, the damper pedal was recently converted to a floating pitman to allow for a smoother pedal feel.
The keytops are are original and in perfect condition, with no cracks. The piano has a beautiful singing tone, with an especially clear and bell like mid and treble. Now with the new action, it has a perfect smooth touch and feel as well. Comes with adjustable artist bench (tears on the top), a dust cover for the instrument, as well as some framed vintage Steinway advertisements from the same era as the instrument. Perfect for an amateur or professional serious pianist as a high quality practice instrument.
